Legends League Cricket (LLCT20) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league that brings together retired cricket players.[1][2][3] The league has been hosted in various countries, including India, Qatar, and Oman.[4] There are two formats, Legends League Cricket Masters and Legends League Cricket T20.[5][6]

Background

LLCT20 founded by Raman Raheja and Vivek Khushalani under the Absolute Legends Sports Pvt Ltd.[7] Following his retirement as the head coach of the India national cricket team, Ravi Shastri was appointed as the league's commissioner in November 2021.[8][9][10]

League format

Masters tournament

The Legends League Cricket Masters tournament was held in two seasons.[11][12] The inaugural season took place in January 2022 at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Muscat,[13] featuring three teams: India Maharajas, Asia Lions, and World Giants. World Giants won the final against Asia Lions.[14]

The second season was held in Doha in March 2023. This time, Asia Lions defeated World Giants in the final.[15]

Franchise tournament

The first season of the franchise tournament was held from September 17 to October 5, 2022.[16] Featuring four teams, the season included a special match between Indian Maharajas and World Giants at Eden Gardens in Kolkata before the league began. A total of 15 matches were played, with India Capitals clinching the title by defeating Bhilwara Kings[17] by 104 runs in the final at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.[18][19]

The second season of the LLC was held from 18 November 18 to 9 December 9 2023,[20][21] with the addition of two new teams.[22]

The third season of the league to kick off on 20 September 2024.[23] For this season Shikhar Dhawan[24] and Dinesh Karthik[25] also signed.
